Perspective Plan for 2005-06 to 2018-19

Sevadal Mahila Mahavidyalaya, Nagpur was established in 1992 to serve selflessly towards the cause of human excellence especially in character building, personality development and empowerment of women through knowledge and higher education. The college is affiliated to Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University, Nagpur. It was accredited by the NAAC in 2003 and was awarded B++ grade. The college has prepared a perspective plan for the period of 2005-2015 by taking into consideration the quality indicators of seven criterion determined by NAAC. In the preparation of the draft of perspective plan, the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of the college has taken initiatives. Inputs from management policies, goals and objectives of the institution, inputs from the stakeholders are considered as a base for the preparation of the perspective plan.


  1. Curricular Aspects :
  2. College working within the affiliated colleges of university can do little in review and development of the curriculum of the programme that college offers. However, the faculty members who get elected on the Board of Studies of different subjects as chairman and members, directly take part in the syllabus formulation process of the university. Teachers shall actively participate in the workshops organised by BOS in curriculum designing and development of degree, diploma and certificate courses.

    College proposes to organise workshops and seminars on curriculum of various subjects.

    College proposes to introduce new academic programmes at UG and PG level. For undergraduate degree programmes, college intends to introduce subjects like Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Economics, English Literature, History, and Psychology. College also proposes to start Post-Graduate programmes in Chemistry, Microbiology, Post-Graduate diploma in Environmental Biotechnology and Ornithology.

    To cater the diverse educational needs of the students, college intends to start courses like Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA), Bachelor of Computer Application (BCA) and Diploma in Business Management (DBM).

    College also proposes to start Higher Learning and Research (Ph.D. Programmes) in Zoology, Environmental Science, Microbiology, Chemistry and Botany.

    It has also been proposed to start certificate courses and add-on courses in Human Rights and Values in Education, Communicative English, Medical Laboratory Technology, Fashion Designing, Environmental Education, Water Conservation, Interior Decoration, Floriculture and garden management.

    Strengthening of existing programmes :

  3. Teaching-Learning and Evaluation :
  4. College will strengthen well defined, transparent admission process. Also proposes to post the admission guidelines on college website and on-line admission process.

    To promote information communication technology (ICT) enabled teaching aids, college intends to make available facility of power point presentation in class rooms by providing projector facility.

    Subject awareness test and orientation classes for newly admitted students, remedial classes for slow learners will be conducted. We also propose to introduce mentor-ward system in order to attend the academic and other related difficulties of the students.

    Academic calendar for college activities will be prepared every year giving details of examination schedule, cultural, sports and other co-curricular activities.

    Organization of study tours, educational visits, guest lectures, students workshops and seminars.

    Preparation and implementation of teaching plan and maintenance of diary of academic work by all the faculty members.

    Teachers will be deputed to attend National and International seminars, conferences and workshops. They will also be deputed to attend the orientation and refresher courses.

    Self-appraisal system will be followed for academic and co-curricular evaluation of teachers.

    The college will set biometric system in order to monitor arrival and departure time of teaching and non-teaching staff.

    Student’s attendance shall be maintained and reported to designated committee. The students having less than 60% attendance shall be identified for further necessary action.

    Parent meetings will be conducted in order to discuss the attendance and performance of the students.

  5. Research, Consultancy and Extension :
  6. The teachers shall be encouraged to submit major and minor research projects proposals to various funding agencies, and also to undertake collaborative research at National and International level.

    The faculty members and research students shall be allowed to utilize the interdepartmental infrastructural facilities, equipment and internet facility of the institution.

    The teachers shall be motivated to publish research papers in reputed journals and participate and present research papers in seminars and conferences.

    College intends to start research journal, plans to get it registered and pursue for getting ISSN for it.

    The departments will be encouraged to organize seminars, workshops and conferences at National and International level.

    Organization of value orientation programmes for students through NSS activities.

    Organization of Environment awareness programmes, establishing linkages with NGO’s, GO’s and research organizations.

    Students of the college associated with NSS, Nature club and Environment cell will be motivated to organize wide array programme of social, Environmental and Health and Hygiene awareness.

  7. Infrastructure and Learning Resources :
  8. College proposes to make renovation and maintenance of the following :-

    Renovation and furnishing of conference hall

    Renovation and furnishing of research laboratories

    Renovation and furnishing of Administrative office

    Establishing the ICT laboratory

    Exterior and interior painting of the building.

    Renovation of washrooms.

    Establishing the language laboratory.

    It has been proposed to develop additional infrastructure and learning resources, such as :-

    Construction of central library equipped with computerization (LIBMAN Software), On-line public access catalogue, and membership for access to e-journals through INFLIBNET, Free internet access in library hours for faculty and research students, and reprographic facility.

    Construction and maintenance of well furnished auditorium.

    Construction of specious and well equipped laboratories specifically for Microbiology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry and Environmental Biotechnology.

    Construction of four additional classrooms equipped with LCD projector facility.

    Construction of girl’s hostel.

    Construction of well equipped gymnasium.

    It has been proposed to purchase generator for power backup, adequate number of PC’s and Laptops, LCD projectors and sophisticated instrumentation required for research purpose.

  9. Students support and progression :
  10. Career guidance, placement services and students welfare schemes shall be provided to the students.

    Organization of cultural events and intends to strengthens value education programmes.

    Publication of annual college magazine ‘SEVAVRATEE’.

    Security shall be monitored through CC TV.

    Provision of sports coaching to deserving candidate through private sport clubs.

    Students securing excellence in academics and co- curricular activities shall be felicitated and encouraged with cash prizes and mementoes.

  11. Governance and Leadership :
  12. College proposes to conduct workshop on skill development for non- teaching staff and ICT workshop for office staff.

    Involvement of teaching staff in the governance through various portfolios and committees.

    Decentralization of administration and regular IQAC meetings.

  13. Innovative Practices :
  14. College intends to promote gender sensitizing programmes, such as lectures, workshops, seminars, etc.

    College intends to avail the schemes of UGC like entry in services, coaching for NET/SET and remedial coaching.

    College intends to organize an annual interaction meet with alumni and parents.

    Establishment of coaching centre for various competitive examinations.
