INTRODUCTION TO DEPARTMENT :

Home Science is a branch of science, which primarily deals with home. However, the scope of this subject is quite vast and varied and surpasses beyond the area of cooking, home decoration and needlework. To get well versed with the surrounding environment the students are introduced to Ecology & Environment subject to understand how our actions affect the environment. It shows the individuals the extent of damage we cause to the environment. Human Anatomy and Physiology which is taught through “Applied Physiology”, provides a thorough understanding of normal body function, enabling more effective treatment of abnormal or disease states. In continuation after applied Physiology students are exposed to Public health is an interdisciplinary field. For example, epidemiology, biostatistics, social sciences and management of health services are all relevant. Other important subfields include environmental health, community health, behavioural health, health economics, public policy, mental health, health education, occupational safety, disability, gender issues in health, and sexual and reproductive health through Subjects “Public Health Epidemiology” and “Health & Hygiene” deals with Virology, Bacteriology and Parasitology. Department also deals with Biochemistry in which the students develop the awareness regarding metabolism of Meganutrients and Micronutrients which they are taking. This is covered under Nutritional Biochemistry.

Department has all the Instruments which are prescribed to perform the Experiments as per University Curriculum of Biology
