Department of Botany was established in 1992 with a total built up area of 800sq.ft. The department has well equipped laboratory for under-graduate courses. The Department of Botany is known for its academic excellence, qualified faculties. The faculty members have been involved in research activities and have various research projects to their credits. Projection facilities are also available in classrooms to facilitate student learning with visual representation of concepts discussed in class. Apart from these state-of-the-art methods involved in teaching, the Department also maintains an enormous collection of museum specimens right from fossils and plant materials. These collections facilitate in practical learning of the subject and in forming a connection with the specimens of nature they study.The departmental library has a good collection of textbooks, reference books and journals of national and international reputes. The Department regularly organizes field trips, study tour and botanical excursions that helps in bringing about holistic development of students. Many alumni of this department are pursuing their careers in higher education from reputed institutions. Some of our alumni are currently placed in various positions in many government organizations/Schools/Colleges. The Department also regularly organizes workshops, conferences, seminars and symposia with participation of faculty as well as students from universities and colleges. These activities help students and are instrumental not only in keeping themselves to ensure of current developments and frontiers of research in the subject discipline. In keeping pace with the advances in various aspects of Plant Sciences, now R.T.M. Nagpur University, Nagpur updated syllabi with one unit of the skill oriented programs like Mushroom cultivation, Bio- fertilizers, Hydroponics, etc. in every papers of each Semester.

Beekeeping is the very low investment and little skills oriented technique, thisIndustry has the potential to offers direct employment to lakhs of people, specifically farmers. Sustainability of this industry is therefore vital to the country’s economy, wellbeing and development. Beekeeping has great importance in the agriculture based economy with pollination services, especially oil seeds and pulses production. According to Dr. Swaminathan, second green revolution is possible only by increasingthe pollinators, such as honeybee. In most of villages in India, beekeeping is feasible. Hon’ble Prime Minister in recent days emphasized on the importance of beekeeping and said that “Now there is a need of Sweet Revolution after white revolution development.
