We are guided by values of pluralism, equality, justice, non-violence and compassion. Learning is based on critical exploration of reality and aspires to be emancipatory, creative and socially relevant.
Our focus is more on co-operative endeavours oriented towards the wellbeing of the group rather than the individual. We nurture a sociological imagination i.e. holistic, critical and reflexive.
Thrust areas of Learning are participatory, experimental and based on critical exploration of reality. For this, class debates and students presentation methods are used. Students visit to industrial company, villages, old-age home and de-addiction centre, etc. are organised to connect theoretical understanding with ground realities and making learning more meaningful.
Students are apprised with various themes of caste, religion, intolerance, development, environment, gender equality, media democracy, peace, disability, tribal issues and children issues and thereafter intended to carry the same to society.
Department also works on various issues from sociological perspective by celebrating and observing significant days like World Population Day, World Literacy Day, Human Rights Day, Non-Violence Day, etc.
