The department was established in 1996 under faculty of Home Science for under graduate.B.Sc. Home Science Textile and Clothing is three years degree course which is divided into six semesters. The department of Textile & Clothing is engaged in teaching various trends in fashion. Students are taught clothing psychology, clothing culture and history, fashion marketing, fashion design, fashion illustration. At UG level the basic information about the subject “Textile and Clothing” is given to the students, in which they study about the manufacturing process of natural and manmade fiber, process of making yarn, their qualities & interlacing process. They also study about the process of selection of fabric & various techniques of ornamenting them like dyeing, printing, textile designing, fabric construction & woven fabric analysis. Fashion designing, pattern making, grading, draping fashion marketing & merchandising, etc. are also part of the Syllabus. They gain about Human perception and behavior towards the textile products and global economic trends affecting the textile and apparel marketplace.
