The degree level course B.Sc. in Environmental Science aims at providing an understanding of various environmental systems and their interrelationships. The programme further aims at developing the skills for tackling various environmental problems through the topics like environmental pollution, monitoring, management, conservation and concept of sustainable development. The college started functioning with adequate admissions in the year 1992-93 for a three year B.Sc. Course with Environmental Science. After receiving encouraging results at the Under Graduate level, it was thought to start Environmental Science at Post Graduate level.
The Post Graduate teaching Department of Environmental Science came into existence in 2001. The main objective of this course is to provide students with up-to-date knowledge of environmental pollution and its impact, Solid &Hazardous waste problems and disposal, water and wastewater treatment, waste minimization technique, environmental management and pollution control. The department has modern equipments, instruments and devices which are used for practical studies and for the field investigation. The students have been provide the practical training in the analysis and management of Environmental problems which would enable them to take up challenging jobs in various industries, Pollution Control Boards, Central and State Departments concerned with Environment, Wildlife, Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences and agencies engaged in dissemination of environmental education and awareness.
The department has added one more feather in their cap by establishing Place for Higher Learning and Rresearch from 2006. The objective of this academy is to provide a platform for the research work under Ph.D. programme and to expand the potential for collaborative linkage within and beyond the Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University, Nagpur.
The departmental library has a good collection of Textbooks, Reference book, Encyclopedia and Journals of National and International repute. Other facility includes Instrumentation Room, Computer Room with Broadband Internet Connection. In short span of few years, department has established excellent facilities to get quality education in the field of Environmental Science.
